After much time deliberating about how we are going to celebrate Hogmanay, we decided that the best way to do it is to spend with family.  Unfortunately my condition meant that I was not really energetic and frequent naps were required, so a nice relaxing week at Casa di Galli in Prague was exactly what the doctor ordered.

We set off on the morning of Boxing Day, our car stuffed with Christmas presents and snacks.

The first couple of days were spent lazily relaxing in the house – exactly what the doctor ordered.

Then at night we would take long walks or runs through the beautiful Czech countryside!

On the 30th December we decided to take off on our own and go the renowned European spa town of Karlovy Vary! I was really expecting something spectacular.  The city did turn out to be quite a gem- a very cold windy gem. Full of expensive shops, restaurans, spas and demanding Russians.

Despite all of this we did manage to have a great time.  Got a taste of the local “healing water”.

And cheeky Thai massage 🙂

Hogmanay was spent at home with the family and the friends from the village and many many fireworks in the back garden.Of course there had to be home made pizza 🙂

The day after we ventured out to the city centre to walk through the Christmas market in the main square and watch the fireworks.

Unfortunately our time in the beautiful Czech Republic had passed too quickly and we were on the road home once again.

On the way back to sunny Holland
